Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) - IT graduate programme

Financial services and banking have become increasingly driven by IT. Digitisation is enhancing the products, services and experience delivered to customers. Standard Bank IT is driving innovation, adopting cutting edge technology and running a 24x7 IT operation across CIB IT, GTSS IT and PBB IT.

CIB IT is an enabler for the CIB business. These revenue generating businesses consist of Global Markets, Transactional Banking Products (TPS), Investment Banking and Real Estate.

The technologies used by these divisions range from in house builds to a variety of vendor based systems. There are a number of online portals which have been developed to meet varying customer needs, and a number of these have received accolades for being leaders in their customer segments. These applications need to be maintained, developed and enhanced by the respective technology teams in CIB IT. The intense, high pressured environment of Global Markets and TPS makes partnering with these areas really exciting. Technology plays a key role in allowing these businesses to facilitate multi million Rand transactions and making them become a reality.

Our Graduate Programme blends theoretical learning of hard and soft skills with practical experience. Through a number of rotations, you will be exposed to the full life lifecycle of the CIB IT business, from application and technology architecture through the disciplines of analysis, design, build and test of systems to the operation, maintenance and support of the live production environments. Upon completion of the programme you will have acquired the necessary experience to kick-start your career and identify your first home in CIB IT, a place where you can contribute to the success of CIB IT, CIB and ultimately the Standard Bank Group.

You'll see it in how we manage and reward your performance, as well as the extra benefits you could be entitled to – perhaps even shares in the bank. It all depends on the programme you choose, plus one huge factor: you.

How you'll grow

We strive to push our bank forward so we can effect real, positive change for the communities we work in today, and those we hope to work in tomorrow. But nothing's more important than helping our people push themselves forward and expand their potential.

Your core training is adapted to the programme you choose. But everything else is down to you. Right here is a world of development opportunities – anything from shadowing senior colleagues to sharing expertise at international conferences – and a continent of untapped potential. Your chances; your choices.
