Our Internship Programme is designed to give candidates real life, on-the-job exposure in our core pillars of business. Who should apply?
Candidates in their final year of study (Honours level, or a 4-year degree course). Our Graduates come from a diverse set of backgrounds and experiences, and we recruit from a wide range of degree disciplines. These include Business Science, Economics, Financial Maths, Risk Management, Financial Management, and Investment Management

What are we looking for?
Candidates who are highly motivated, with a commercial focus, curiosity, passion for problem solving and drive to innovate. You should be able to think on your feet, enjoy being challenged and demonstrate good attention to detail. Teamwork is key, and we look for candidates that bring a degree of humility, collaboration and willingness to roll up your sleeves.

Important Information
Our CIB Internship Programmes will run for a period of 4 weeks, from 25 June to 20 July 2019. Accommodation will be provided for all candidates at our Global Leadership Centre for the duration of the Programme, including a monetary stipend to cover living expenditure. The Internship will be hosted in our Rosebank offices (30 Baker Street, Johannesburg).

The Programme commences with dedicated training to boost your technical and soft skills before moving you on to rotation in the following business areas:

  • Client Coverage
  • Transactional Products and Services

CIB Risk: Short Term Student Assignment

Risk management is enormously complex; we partner with businesses to understand credit risk to optimise their returns. But, we also assess a range of other areas including financial, economic, legal, political, regulatory, environmental and reputational risks. During the internship, you will have rare opportunity to work on interesting projects and live case studies, build valuable networks across the Bank and most importantly, embark on a fantastic learning journey that will help shape your future career!

The CIB Risk Management Internship, is an intensive programme for those with ambitions to be part of this growing and exciting team, that lead our investment decisions, as we seek to understand the challenges and opportunities of Africa.

How will the process unfold?

Interviews

If you pass our first screening we’ll invite you to interview- on campus, at our offices or over the phone. We may ask you back for a further interview or psychometric test.

Assessment

The last step, and the most intensive. At our Global Leadership Centre you’ll be taking part in a range of interviews, presentations and team exercises while getting the opportunity to network with some of our most senior bankers.
